Holidays in Cocoa Beach

Exotic-sounding Cocoa Beach is the perfect place for an idyllic beach holiday under the hot Florida sun. Golden sand, warm Atlantic waters and cobalt-blue skies are all part of the deal here. But that's not all. A reliable offshore break makes Cocoa Beach the state's top surf spot, while the Orlando theme parks and legendary Daytona Beach are only an hour's drive away.

They don't call this the Space Coast for nothing. When there's a rocket scheduled for launch, there's no finer place to watch the spectacle than from Cocoa Beach. You can visit the scene of the action too and even meet the astronauts at the nearby Kennedy Space Center. But you can also find a different kind of space on Cocoa Beach holidays by wandering the deserted sands of the Cape Canaveral National Seashore.

Back at Cocoa Beach itself and it's all about the action. Surfers cluster round the pier, waiting for the right wave, and you can learn to hang five yourself by signing up with the famous Ron Jon Surf School. There's also volleyball games on the sand, all kinds of watersports, and manatee and dolphin-spotting on kayaking trips through the mangrove-lined channels and tunnels of Cocoa Beach's Thousand Islands.

Other things to keep the days fun-filled on Cocoa Beach holidays are fabulous golf on the local courses and deep-sea fishing trips for mahi-mahi, black-fin tuna, king mackerel and barracuda. But that's not to say it always has to be about doing something, because sometimes it's just as good to do nothing - especially when you can dig your toes into the sand and just enjoy Cocoa Beach life.

So, to cut to the chase, what you really need to know is whether this is a great spot for a holiday. And the answer? I should cocoa!

Kennedy Space Center

Take a small step from Cocoa Beach and make a giant leap in outer space experiences by visiting the place where NASA has launched its rockets since 1969. See actual spacecraft, enjoy an encounter with an astronaut, watch mind-boggling footage on the giant IMAX screen and even get up close to the launch pad.

Theme Park Thrills

Florida's theme parks are the envy of the world. Anchored by famous DisneyWorld, the Disney magic now sits side-by side with a bundle of other top parks, including: Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Discovery Cove and Aquatica. There's endless rides, attractions, animal experiences and water parks right on the doorstep on Cocoa Beach holidays.

The Pier

Cocoa Beach's 800-foot pier is right at the heart of the action and the perfect place to stroll or gaze at the flaming Florida sunset. Pause for a while to watch surfers cutting through the waves, or fishermen pulling up their evening meal. Or if you want to stay longer, browse the shops, grab a great meal or sit with a drink on this iconic Space Coast landmark.

Daytona Beach

Speed freaks won't want to miss the action up at Daytona Beach during NASCAR Speed Weeks like the Indy 500. If you can't get a ticket you can visit the International Speedway racetrack for a tour, ride shotgun round the track with a professional, or head to back the beach and drive your own vehicle along the sand.

Good Times

There's no shortage of ways to make the night come alive on Cocoa Beach holidays. Foodies can chow down on everything from ocean-fresh seafood to BBQ - plus there's countless bars, pubs and clubs where you can drink or dance the night away, laugh at live comedy and listen to live music.

Don’t forget your ESTA
If you are travelling to the USA, the US authorities have imposed a requirement for passengers travelling under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), to register for Electronic Travel Authority. Passengers who have not applied for and received travel authorisation via ESTA prior to travel may be denied boarding of the aircraft or be denied admission at the US entry destination. However, neither possession of a visa, nor meeting the basic requirements for travelling visa-free on the VWP, guarantees admission to the United States. As with most countries, the final determination of admissibility is made by immigration officials at the port of entry.

How do I apply for ESTA?
There is an application form online which is available at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov. Prior to travel, you will need to visit this website and fill in the online application.

When should I apply for my travel authorisation?
If you intend to travel to America, you must apply for entry via ESTA at least a minimum of 72 hours prior to travel.

How long is the travel authorisation valid for?
Your ESTA will be valid for up to two years, or until your passport expires. It is also valid for multiple entries to America. However you must amend any necessary data, such as date of travel and your address whilst in the US.
