Day 1: New York
Arrive into New York to start your adventure of the USA’s great eastern cities. Upon arrival, transfer independently to your hotel where you will meet your American Tours International Escort, who’s on hand to go over all the details of your upcoming trip. Stay 2 nights at the Lexington New York(or similar).
Day 2: New York
Be sure to have your camera at the ready today, as this morning commences with a city tour of New York, which will include some of the most famous sights of Manhattan. Catch glimpses of the famous skyline as you absorb the bustle and energy of the Big Apple. Then, the rest of today is at your leisure to explore this incredible city at your own pace. The ATI Tour Director will be available to help you plan out your day. There are endless attractions, including shopping down Fifth Avenue, taking a stroll through Central Park, or heading to the top of the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center for unforgettable aerial views of the city.
Day 3: New York – Finger Lakes – Niagara Falls, Niagara
Today, your escorted motorcoach tour begins as you drive across New York State through the Finger Lakes Country and towards the Canadian border, arriving at one of the world’s natural wonders, Niagara Falls. Indulge in a spot of wine-tasting at Watkins Glen, on the shores of Lake Seneca, named for the Seneca Indian Nation. Spend the evening at the romantic Niagara Falls. Stay 1 night at Best Western Cairn Croft (or similar).
Day 4: Niagara Falls – Amish Country
This morning you will have time to explore the Falls. Perhaps take a ride aboard the Maid of the Mist (optional), or stroll along Table Rock to view the thundering waters of the Horseshoe Falls. In the afternoon, there’s the choice to join an optional trip to the Skylon Tower for lunch at its revolving restaurant. The Skylon Tower, hovering 775-feet above the Niagara gorge, features an observation deck that affords views of an 8,000-mile area. Later on, depart Niagara and travel into Pennsylvania Dutch Country, also known as Amish Country, for your overnight stay. Stay 1 night at the Genetti Hotel & Suites (or similar).
Day 5: Amish Country – Gettysburg – Washington DC
In the morning, travel through the Appalachian Mountains along the picturesque Susquehanna River, the longest river on the American East Coast. Visit the historic Gettysburg Civil War National Battleground, the site of the largest battle ever fought on American soil and the place where President Lincoln gave his famous address in 1863. From here, you will journey to the nation’s capital, Washington DC, where your evening is at leisure. Alternatively you have the option to book in an evening tour and dinner in Georgetown (optional). Stay 2 nights at DoubleTree Washington Silver Spring (or similar).
Day 6: Washington DC
Enjoy a city tour of the capital today, including highlights such as the US Capitol Building, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, the FBI. Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the White House and Arlington National Cemetery - the site of the JFK Memorial. After your tour, the rest of the day is yours to see DC at your own pace. Explore some of the many museums that make up the Smithsonian Institute or simply take a stroll along the banks of the Potomac River for pretty views of the city and its iconic landmarks.
Day 7: Washington DC – Philadelphia
This morning, you will continue your journey as you head to Philadelphia, the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ and the birthplace of America, where the Declaration of Independence was signed on 4th July, 1776. Here you will see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on a comprehensive city tour. In the evening, there’s the option to head out for dinner at one of the city's most famous venues, where you can get a taste for Philadelphia's famed local delicacy, the Philly Cheesesteak - a heartily recommended treat and the perfect way to commemorate your eastern adventure. Stay 1 night at Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown (or similar).
Day 8: Philadelphia – New York
Today, there is an early morning start as you return to New York City. The motorcoach will arrive into JFK Airport at approximately 11:30am to connect with your onward flight, and will arrive at Newark International at approximately 1:30pm. We suggest adding on an extra few days in New York to make the most of this phenomenal city.
