Day 1: London – San Francisco
Your holiday officially begins as you board your international flight and arrive the same day into San Francisco. Make your way to your hotel and make the most of your first day in the ‘City by the Bay’, from the lively entertainment and dining along Fisherman’s Wharf and the sweet treats that can be found at Ghirardelli Square. Stay 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf (or similar).
Day 2-3: San Francisco
It’s no wonder that this cosmopolitan city receives over 16 million visitors a year – there is so much to do! Discover Frisco’s unique charm and meander through its colourful patchwork of neighbourhoods, each with its own personality. Stride out along the red walkways of the Golden Gate Bridge for stupendous views (traditional Bay fog permitting!). Ride a clanking cable car up a steep gradient then find out how it all works at the Cable Car Museum. Go shopping in Union Square. Or simply sit with a coffee at a café in North Beach watching the wonderful San Francisco world go by.
Day 4: San Francisco – Los Angeles
Your Californian adventure continues as you take the short flight south to Los Angeles, where glitz, glamour and fun in the sun is on the agenda. Pick up your hire car from the airport and make your way into the ‘Showbiz Capital of the World’, which is yours to explore, whether you decide to tour Hollywood, see the homes of the rich and famous, or experience the electric nightlife of the Sunset Strip. Stay 3 nights at The Garland (or similar).
Day 5-6: Los Angeles
Everything that you've ever heard about LA is true. Yes, the sun shines brightly, glinting off the stars along Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame; yes, Rodeo Drive is teeming with shoppers shelling out hundreds of dollars on designer labels; yes, the body builders on Muscle Beach really do have six-packs to die for; and yes, local celebs do sometimes sneak around in disguise. If you’re looking for beaches LA is the place to be. With 80 miles of soft white sand and surf to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice. And if you're a fan of theme parks, then look no further than Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and others on the doorstep. Then there is nothing more iconic than L.A.'s famous 'Hollywood' sign.
Day 7: Los Angeles – San Diego
After seeing the city sights and action of Frisco and LA, it’s now time to unwind along the sun-drenched beaches of California’s finest city – San Diego. Drive south along Highway 5 to San Diego and make your way to your hotel. Stay 3 nights at the Dana on Mission Bay (or similar).
Day 8-9: San Diego
Offering bays and pristine beaches, San Diego is just a 2 hour drive south from Los Angeles and 30 minutes from the Mexican border. Children will love SeaWorld, Legoland or the San Diego Zoo. There is plenty of shoreline for suffers or alternatively enjoy a breathtaking harbour cruise. Take a trip to Little Italy and explore the streets of this level neighbourhood with its authentic cafes. Catch a ride on the trolley to Balboa Park, one of the largest urban cultural parks in the world which is full of museums, performing arts and architecture to savour. Head to the Gaslamp Quarter or Old Town to find the best nightlife San Diego has to offer.
Day 10: San Diego – London
You can choose to extend your stay in San Diego and soak in more of what wonderful city has to offer, or alternatively this action packed holiday wraps up as you head back to the airport to board your return overnight flight back home.
