Day 1: London – Las Vegas
Arrive in Las Vegas where you will collect your Alamo car rental at McCarran Airport and then proceed to your hotel. Stay 1 night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (or similar).
Day 2: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon (approx. 270 miles)
Today your adventure begins as you leave behind the bright lights of Vegas and drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. If you want to make the most of the journey, why not take the slightly longer route along one of the most iconic stretches of Route 66, between Kingman and Seligman? Perhaps stop at one of Seligman’s Route 66 diners for lunch before continuing to your hotel close to the South Rim. Perhaps make your way to the Canyon in time for sunset when this famous natural landmark will look its most breathtaking. At 277 miles long, 10 miles average width from rim to rim and 5,700 feet deep, this truly is one of the natural wonders of the world. Stay 1 night at the Grand Canyon Lodge (or similar).
Day 3: Grand Canyon – Monument Valley (approx. 130 miles)
There’s time for a morning walk along the rim of the Grand Canyon with plenty of photo stops before you leave, following the Canyon rim for a while before heading up through Indian reservation land to Kayenta. Stay 1 night at the Gouldings Lodge (or similar).
Day 4: Monument Valley – Moab (approx. 146 miles)
Make the iconic drive to Monument Valley today, stopping at the Visitor Centre for spectacular views over the valley. To explore this area fully, we recommend taking a jeep tour with a Navajo guide. After your visit, make your way north across the Utah state border into Moab, known as a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and the perfect base to explore Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Stay 3 nights at the Best Western Plus Canyonlands Inn (or similar).
Day 5 - 6: Moab
You have two full days to get out and discover some of Utah’s spectacular natural playgrounds. In Arches National Park, you can choose trails ranging from half hour strolls along flat ground to full day hikes up to views through magnificent sandstone arches. More jaw-dropping vistas await in Canyonlands, where you can also try your hand at rock climbing, white water rafting and mountain biking amongst many other exciting activities in fabulous surroundings.
Day 7: Moab – Bryce Canyon (approx. 274 miles)
The most direct route to Bryce Canyon will take around 4 hours and 30 minutes but we recommend a more scenic route via Capitol Reef National Park and Goblin State Park, an unspoilt gem with a landscape full of hoodoos (chimneys of rock). This route will take you most of the day, with stops for walks and photos. Arrive into Bryce Canyon National Park in time for sunset. Stay 1 night at Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn (or similar).
Day 8: Bryce Canyon – Zion National Park (approx. 72 miles)
Take a scenic drive today through Bryce Canyon with its collection of vast natural amphitheatres containing stone forests of red hoodoos. The journey takes around 80 minutes but you’ll be tempted to stop at every look out – or why not take one of the hiking trails? Descend towards Zion, the lowest National Park on the Colorado Plateau. Stay 2 nights at Zion Lodge (or similar).
Day 9: Zion National Park
Zion is Utah’s oldest National Park, known for its incredible canyons, massive sandstone cliffs and spectacular views. Famous hikes here include the challenging (but rewarding) Angels Landing and the Narrows, a great hike for getting your feet wet! Over 200 species of birds fly though the park annually too, making it a great destination for twitchers. You might also like to visit the interesting Zion Human History Museum just outside the park, which focuses on American Indian culture, the historic settlement of pioneers and Zion’s growth as a National Park.
Day 10: Zion to Las Vegas (approx. 161 miles)
Leave Zion National Park and head south back to Las Vegas. Here there’s time to get involved with the fun, attractions and the buzzing atmosphere of this glittering ‘Entertainment Capital of the World.’ Try your luck at gambling, indulge in a spot of retail therapy or see one of the city’s famous shows. If time allows, then pay a visit to the light show on Fremont Street – or why not even try out the impressive zip line that’ll take you from one end to the other? Stay 1 night at the Luxor Las Vegas (or similar).
Day 11: Las Vegas to London
At the end of your canyon adventure, make your way back to the airport in Las Vegas, drop off your hire car and board your flight back to London.
