Today, collect your Alamo car rental and head towards Lake Tahoe, a waterfront paradise where snow-capped mountains stand sentinel over emerald waters. Drive north to follow the State Route 351, also known as ‘The Extraterrestrial Highway’ which skirts around the infamous Area 51 location. Then, step back in time as you follow the Silver Trail to Tonopah, a historic mining town where you can stop for lunch. If time allows, visit the reputed haunted hotel before continuing your journey though Nevada’s desert landscape to arrive into Tahoe in the evening. Stay 4 nights at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe (or similar).
