Day 1: London – San Francisco
Your holiday officially begins as you board your international flight and arrive the same day into San Francisco. Make your way to your hotel and then make the most of your first day in the ‘City by the Bay’, from the lively entertainment and dining along Fisherman’s Wharf to the sweet treats that can be found at Ghirardelli Square. Stay 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf (or similar).
Day 2-3: San Francisco
It isn't only Tony Bennett who left his heart in San Francisco - plenty of other people have too. Frisco's unique charm acts as a giant magnet, making people yearn to come back. Explore the colourful patchwork of neighbourhoods, each with its own personality, so it's a delight to meander through them, soaking up the sights and the atmosphere. Stride out along the red walkways of the Golden Gate Bridge for stupendous views (traditional Bay fog permitting!). Ride a clanking cable car up a steep gradient then find out how it all works at the Cable Car Museum. Go shopping in Union Square. Or simply sit with a coffee at a café in North Beach watching the world go by.
Day 4: San Francisco – Los Angeles
Your Californian adventure continues as you take the short flight south to Los Angeles, where glitz, glamour and fun in the sun are on the agenda. The ‘Showbiz Capital of the World’ is yours to explore, whether you decide to tour Hollywood, see the homes of the rich and famous or experience the electric nightlife of the Sunset Strip. Stay 3 nights at the Millenium Biltmore (or similar).
Day 5-6: Los Angeles
Everything you've ever heard about LA is true. Yes, the sun shines brightly, glinting off the stars along Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame; yes, Rodeo Drive is teeming with shoppers shelling out hundreds of dollars on designer labels; yes, the body builders on Muscle Beach really do have six-packs to die for; and yes, local celebs do sometimes sneak around in disguise. Look behind you - it's Rihanna in dark glasses and a wig! If it's iconic sights you're after, then look no further than LA's famous 'Hollywood' sign. After some beach action? Then there are about 80 miles of soft white sand and surf to choose from. If you're a fan of theme parks, then you're spoilt for choice with Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and others on the doorstep.
Day 7: Los Angeles – Oahu, Hawaii
After your Californian escapade, it’s time to soar over the Pacific Ocean as you head to your final destination of Honolulu the capital city of Oahu, where Waikiki Beach awaits you. Spend your final days enjoying the tropical shores, palm fringed beaches and warm Hawaiian hospitality that this fine island offers. Stay 4 nights at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani (or similar).
Day 8-10: Honolulu, Oahu
With a name as exotic as its location, Honolulu is the beating heart of Hawaii's beautiful Oahu Island. Perched picturesquely on the south shore and ringed by volcanic craters, it's a cosmopolitan mix of glitzy hi-rises, quirky neighbourhoods, great shopping, plus fantastic restaurants and nightlife. Oh, and did we mention the beach? The local stretch of sand is Waikiki - one of the most famous beaches in the world. Then there’s the culture to discover, from the Bishop Museum, set up in 1889 by a royal princess, to the Pearl Harbour memorial, and the only royal palace in the USA is also worth a visit. The ornately colonnaded Iolani Palace was home to Hawaii's last two rulers. You can easily spend your final days being as relaxed or active as you wish!
Day 11: Honolulu, Oahu – London
After a jam packed holiday discovering the best of the USA’s Pacific Coast destinations, it’s time to check out of your hotel and make your way back to the airport to board your return flight, travelling overnight towards London.
