Mayan Dude Ranch is located 47 miles northwest of San Antonio in Bandera Texas, known as the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’. The ranch is set in 350 acres and features scenic trails along the Medina River and up into the hills. On a typical day you will have coffee and juice in your room before heading down to the corral for a hayride to the Cowboy Breakfast cook-out. After breakfast, there is one guided horse ride in the morning and one in the afternoon. Between times, you can choose from activities including sun bathing, swimming, golf at a nearby course or tennis. This ranch is the perfect choice for families and for novice riders. It has been operated by the Hicks family for 50 years and they will welcome you with traditional Texan hospitality. The ranch has also produced seven world champion rodeo cowboys.
Location: The closest airport is San Antonio. Transfers are not included but can be added to your booking.
Accommodation: Choose from a Western Native Rock Cottage (with one, two or three bedrooms depending on the size of your group) or a Lodge Room. These are in the highest areas of the ranch, with views over Bandera and the surrounding hills. Check in is after 13:00 on the day of arrival.
Children: This is a very family friendly ranch. Children over 6 are welcome to ride whilst those under 6 can get in the saddle and ride around the corral with the help o f a rancher at scheduled times. Every Tuesday during the summer, children have their own special dinner.
Sundays: During the summer, there are no scheduled rides or lunch served on Sundays.
Horse Riding: This ranch would suit novice and unconfident riders. Guests are taken on two rides a day, in the morning and the afternoon. They are all single file with a cowboy guide and last around 50 minutes.
