Day 1: London – Phoenix/Scottsdale
Fly into the Grand Canyon State arriving into the capital city of Phoenix for the start of your Arizona discovery. Stay 7 nights at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa (or similar).
Day 2: Phoenix /Scottsdale
Take time to appreciate the relaxed desert pace of the Valley of the Sun, whether that’s by soaking up the rays at your hotel, or heading out to explore the sights of Phoenix and Scottsdale. There’s also championship golf courses to take advantage of, and for the outdoor enthusiasts, you’re ideally located to explore some of Arizona’s finest landscapes, with countless walking, hiking and biking trails that will lead you into the Sonoran Desert and the McDowell Mountains.
Day 3: Phoenix /Scottsdale – Grand Canyon – Phoenix /Scottsdale
Today, why not choose to book a day trip to see the sights of the Grand Canyon via Sedona and the Navajo Reservation, starting from £89 per person. With an early morning rise, this day trip will take you through the Sonoran Desert to the red rock country of Sedona, and onwards past the Oak Creek Canyon before arriving into Grand Canyon National Park in the afternoon. There’s plenty of photo spot opportunities along the way. A 2-hour rim tour is included before you make your return back, taking you through the Navajo Reservation with a stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post where there’s time for souvenir shopping before returning to your hotel.
Day 5: Phoenix /Scottsdale
After a day on the road and sightseeing, why not relax and enjoy the sights of Phoenix. You can chill by the pool, take in a museum, or hit the shops instead. Visit the Heard Museum, a treasure trove of American Indian art and history or shop til’ you drop amongst the designer shopping of Biltmore Fashion Park.
Day 6: Phoenix /Scottsdale – Tombstone – San Xavier Mission – Phoenix /Scottsdale
Arizona is rich in history, and a day trip to Tombstone would be the best way to appreciate America’s Wild West heritage. Starting from £72 per person, this tour will take you to the ‘Town Too Tough to Die’, where you can discover buildings and artefacts dating back to the 1880’s still well preserved. Walk the streets once ablaze with cowboys, visit the home of Wyatt Earp and visit the Tombstone Historical Courthouse where many a criminal was prosecuted. On the way back to Phoenix, there’s opportunity to stop at the White Dove of The Desert, one of the Southwest's best preserved missions at San Xavier del Bac, just outside Tucson.
Day 7: Phoenix/Scottsdale
Spend the day in Scottsdale, with its antiquated Old Town brimming with artful galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants. Browse through a colourful collection of Native American crafts and jewellery; savour the delights of local southwestern cuisines; and in the evening, party with the locals as the sun sets over the desert by visiting one of the many rooftop bars or chic clubs.
Day 8: Phoenix/Scottsdale – London
Your Arizona discovery comes to an end today as you head back to the airport to catch your overnight return flight back home. (read more...)
