California Adventure
The five themed areas of Disneyland's newer part celebrate all things Californian. There are thrills aplenty on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and California Screamin' coasters, while kids will love all the cute critters in A Bug's Land. Don't miss the Soarin' Over California ride, a simulated hang-glider trip across the State, which feels so real it'll give you goose bumps. Not forgetting Cars Land, the latest expansion in the park. A 12-acre land inspired on the Disney•Pixar film, Cars.
Hit The Beach
You simply can't come on holidays to Anaheim and not go to the beach. Hanging out by the ocean is as much a part of the California way of life as endless sunshine, and there are some superb stretches to discover. Head to nearby Newport Beach to soak up the rays on silken sands and stroll around the ritzy harbour; try Huntington Beach for excellent surfing; or stop off at fashionable Laguna to see and be seen.
Shop Around
Retail therapy of every description is available in Anaheim. Disneyland's Main Street USA and Downtown Disney districts have scores of stores. And elsewhere there's all kinds of outlet shopping, boutiques and malls, including the popular GardenWalk, with its winning mix of prime retail, restaurants and entertainment.
Be Wowed
There's fantastic live entertainment on offer in Anaheim, and some of the best is in Disneyland. The daily character parades and spectacular nightly fireworks are a Disney institution. A must-see is the Fantasmic display, when Mickey Mouse re-enacts the amazing scenes from Fantasia complete with music and mind-blowing special effects.
Catch A Game
The giant letter 'A' standing outside the Angels of Anaheim baseball stadium, the fourth oldest in Major League baseball, gives the ground its name. Watching a game at 'The Big 'A' is a family-friendly experience with a chance to see the 'California Spectacular', when Disney-imagineered fireworks and erupting geysers celebrate each home run.
