Pay day. Transfer some of it to a savings account. Keep saving for that once-in-a-lifetime family trip to the US. Happiness is priceless.
Who hasn’t dreamed of taking the family on a trip of a lifetime – to live the ‘American dream’ for a couple of weeks? The United States is a great choice for a fun-filled holiday for all of the family – with Orlando being a firm favourite. Think about the weather, the beaches, the theme parks, the great value shopping... Orlando has it all!
Once you’re there, why not try out some of the unique experiences available –visit the Florida Citrus Tower and survey Orlando with a bird’s eye view – or take a car to Spook Hill which is also known as Gravity Hill because cars appear to roll up the hill instead of down!
And then there are the American greats when it comes to food! No visit is complete without a burger at Five Guys or Shake Shack (both at The Florida Mall) or a pretzel at any of the Auntie Anne’s branches at Orlando International Premium Outlets and Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets.
Planning the perfect trip
Once you’ve decided to take your family to Orlando, it’s time to plan the holiday ahead to get the most out of it. There’s nothing like a little bit of pre-planning, especially when there is so much to do and you need to make sure you work shopping therapy into your itinerary!
In terms of theme parks, for instance, it is advisable to decide which ones to take in and which to ditch. As it’s likely that your kids (and you too!) would like to visit more than one, consider combo tickets as they can get you cheaper entry to subsidiary parks – and compare prices!
After a few days of fun, pack the bucket and spade and head to one of the family-friendly beaches within a short drive from Orlando. Cocoa Beach is a good option – and the closest – offering white sands and surf schools for kids. Daytona Beach is a great alternative, featuring many facilities for children.
Any trip to the US is not complete without a little bit of shopping! As well as bagging amazing bargains which you can’t find back home (up to 65% off!), you’ll have the opportunity to rest and eat at some of the wonderful food courts when visiting either the Orlando International Premium Outlets and the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets.
Visit The Florida Mall, Central Florida’s largest shopping centre located minutes away from Walt Disney World and the whole family will be in seventh heaven. As well as featuring two fun children’s play areas, there is to-die-for shopping as well as the 511-room Florida Hotel, an ideal base for a family trip to Orlando.
The Florida Mall is also great place to get a the true American experience – one that the whole family is looking for – especially as many of its brands and retailers are exclusive to the US. Entertain the kids at shops such as Journeys Kidz and American Girl and don’t forget to try the American Girl Bistro, featuring special seats for doll friends. Down timers won’t be able to resist a visit to Bath & Body Works and if it’s accessories you’re looking for, glance no further than Charming Charlie, which has been accessorising women since 2004!
Then enjoy some down time with the fam by having a bite to eat at Fat One’s Dogs by Joey Fatone – the last word in hot dogs – washed down with a root beer – only for the adults, of course!
A word to the wise – pack light – so you can bring a little part of the US back with you!
