Stone Mountain Park
It's well worth making the trip up Stone Mountain for the views from the top - and to see the carved reliefs of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, and Generals Lee and Jackson. This is the world's largest piece of exposed granite, and you can either hike up or take the Skyride cablecar. There's also a spectacular laser show.

Civil rights leader Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta, and you can tour the home where he lived in 'Sweet Auburn', as well as the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he preached alongside his father. Also part of this National Historic Site are the tomb where both Martin Luther King and his wife are buried, plus the King Centre for the advancement of civil rights.
