Day 1: Miami - Grassy Key (approx. 105 miles)
Climb up into the driver's seat of your motorhome then head south from Miami, leaving the mainland and crossing over onto beautiful Key Largo. Continue heading along the Keys across a string of bridges with the sun glinting on the ocean all around, until you get to sleepy Grassy Key - home of the Dolphin Research Centre with the chance to play with dolphins or hug a sea lion. Recommended stay - Grassy Camp RV Park & Resort, right on the water.
Day 2: Grassy Key - Key West (approx. 55 miles)
Breeze through Marathon and then cross the famous Seven Mile Bridge to the Lower Keys, with sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Keep going until you reach the last of the keys, Key West, where you'll be closer to Havana in Cuba than to Miami. Enjoy lush tropical vegetation, a laid-back vibe, crystal-clear water, and a buzzing bar, club and restaurant scene. Don't miss the nightly sunset celebrations on Mallory Pier either. Recommended stay - Boyd's Campground, just minutes from the centre of the action.
Day 3: Key West - John Pennekamp State Park (approx. 100 miles)
Head back north from Key West and watch the beautiful ocean scenery slip by as you make your way to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park on Key Largo. America's first undersea park is a vast natural wonder and comes complete with stunning coral reefs, exotic marine life, and a submerged bronze statue of Christ to explore. The diving and snorkelling is superb, plus there are glass-bottom boat trips, canoeing, kayaking, and nature trails through the mangrove swamps. Recommended stay - John Pennekamp State Park
Day 4: John Pennekamp State Park - Everglades National Park (approx. 33 miles)
Leave the Keys and rejoin the Florida mainland, heading for the Everglades. Immerse yourself in a lushly tropical world of wetlands and mangrove swamps, where alligators and manatees cut through the water, and spoonbills and ibises stalk among the sawgrass. Walk the trails, kayak along hidden waterways and see the true beauty of nature like you've never seen it before. Recommended stay - Flamingo Campground, right inside the Park.
Day 5: Everglades National Park - Sanibel (approx.96 miles)
Cross over to the west side of the Florida peninsula and make your way up to the beach paradise of Sanibel Island, where you'll find powder-white sand and warm crystalline waters spread out under a canopy of swaying palm trees. It's the perfect place to unwind, especially since motorised watersports are banned here to preserve the peace, and there are fabulous shells to collect on the shore if you fancy a souvenir. Recommended stay - Periwinkle Park & Campground, just a half-mile from the beach.
Day 6: Sanibel Island - Fort de Soto Park (approx. 145 miles)
Rejoin the mainland, then it's north past some classic Gulf beaches and coastal resorts to Fort de Soto Park, where a ruined American-Spanish War-era castle looms large out of the sands. Spread over five small islands, the Park has it all: fantastic beaches; nature trails; sea kayaking; fishing; boating; and canoeing through mangrove channels. It's a wonderful place to spot all kinds of wildlife, marine-life and bird-life too. Recommended stay - Fort de Soto Park Campground
Day 7: Fort de Soto Park - Walt Disney World (approx. 100 miles)
Time for a change of pace as you motor inland to Orlando and Walt Disney World. With four kingdoms and two water parks, Disney World has a bit of everything. That means not only can you ride some awesome 'coasters; you can discover cutting-edge innovations at Epcot; go on safari in the Animal Kingdom; interact with film and TV characters at Hollywood Studios; or meet Mickey and friends in the Magic Kingdom. Recommended stay - Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, surrounded by 750 acres of pine and cypress forest.
Day 8: Walt Disney World - Juno Beach (approx. 160 miles)
After maxing out on the Disney magic, continue east to Cape Canaveral and check out the Kennedy Space Center - the place where NASA has launched its space rockets since 1969. This is the spot to see actual spacecraft, meet an astronaut, watch mind-boggling footage on the giant IMAX screen and even get up close to the launch pad. Then head down the coast to Juno Beach, with its wide expanse of soft white sand. Recommended stay - Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort, walking distance to the beach and pier.
Day 9: Juno Beach - Dania Beach (approx. 64 miles)
Keep on heading down the Gold Coast, stopping to rub shoulders with the jet-set at upscale Palm Beach, where mansions and manicured lawns are the order of the day along Ocean Boulevard and the shops on Worth Avenue come with designer price tags. Continue on past Fort Lauderdale to family-friendly Dania Beach, which has a small-town feel, complete with great sandy beaches and a charming Historic Art and Antique District. Recommended stay - North Coast Park & Marina, just minutes from the ocean.
