A marvel of modern engineering, a visit to this colossal dam will fill you with admiration for Man's ability to cheat Nature. Standing 221 metres high, the dam features impressive Art Deco architecture and the views over picturesque Lake Mead form the top are breathtaking. You can even take a trip into the bowels of the structure to see the dam's massive inner workings.
There's some great natural attractions out in the desert. Great Basin National Park has cool lakes, craggy mountain peaks and lush meadows, complete with the wonderful stalagmites and stalactites of the Lehman Caves. There's also colourful Red Rock Canyon, and the prehistoric sandstone formations and petroglyphs of the Valley of Fire to discover.
No Nevada holiday would be complete without time spent cruising Las Vegas' Strip for some people watching and to admire its procession of casino resorts. With every type of fanciful architecture from Ancient Egyptian to Tuscan, it's like taking a trip round the world. There's also theme park-style rides to enjoy along the way, street performers, dancing fountains and plenty of retail therapy.
With stunning cobalt-blue waters that reflect the surrounding mountains, Lake Tahoe is a must-see. There's sandy beaches to relax on or swim from; there's good fishing; there's kayaking and canoeing; there's scuba diving; and fantastic hiking trails in the countryside all around. Come winter, and resorts like Diamond Peak and Heavenly offer superb skiing.

America's rodeo Super Bowl, the National Finals Rodeo, sees 15 top competitors battle it out for the world title in Vegas every December. There's ten days of amazing saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Big name Country and Western stars also perform during the festival.
