If all the world's a stage, then the very heart of the action is on New York's Broadway. Home to some of the most critically acclaimed productions plus the hottest tickets anywhere, nothing says 'Theatre Central' like the glowing lights of the Great White Way. So if you're planning to add some dramatic sparkle to your New York holidays 2014, Broadway trips are the way to go.
First there's the musicals: Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys and Motown the Musical are all pretty much guaranteed to have the audience up and dancing. Then there's the celebrities: Sarah Jessica Parker in The Commons of Pensacola and Billy Crystal in 700 Sundays. The kids are spoiled for choice, too (Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark anyone?) - while fans of up-and-coming acts and actors can head 'Off Broadway' instead.
Being smack bang in the middle of theatre land has other advantages, too. With a pre-or post-show meal being such an essential part of the experience, the Broadway area is packed with restaurants and eateries of every persuasion. You can discuss Shakespeare over sushi, celeb spot through the windows of a diner or, if you're feeling flush, go all out in search of Michelin stars. It really is foodie heaven.
Plus there's the rest of Manhattan to explore as well. If Broadway is your base, then you've got the twin shopping mecca of Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue just a couple of blocks away, the Empire State Building more or less round the corner, and hip Chelsea nearby as well. You'll be bringing up the curtain on New York in true style.!
